This song is written by Freddie Mercury and Brian May (the guitarist). It was Mercury's last song and he didn't finish it because the day of the recording he was tired and he went to his house to relax with the promise that he would come back the following day to finish it. But he never came. This song shows regret about his life.

It shows regret about his sexual relationships, for example we read: "I don't want to sleep with you, I don't need the passion too". These are exactly the opposite words than those he would say five years before his death. In another lyric we read: "All I want is to know that you're there", "My dreams are all the company I keep". Here, he wants to stress the fact that was finally alone with his dreams.

Because of his life and his choices he became sick and he suffered a lot. We can understand this because he says:"My body's aching but I can't sleep". He knew that he was dying slowly and he couldn't do anything. He wanted peace before he died: "I long for peace before I die".

He was a man like the others in this world but his fans thought that was strong and happy but he wasn't. In a lyric he writes: "I'm a man of the world and they say that I'm strong but my heart is heavy and my hope is gone". He regrets again, but now about his pride that is gone and because he dissapointed his fans. He wanted to return to innocence to his "mother love". He finally understood that love, the real love, isn't only about sexual relationships. In another lyric he writes: "Mama please, let me back inside" or "Just to now that my woman gives me sweet, mother love". He wants a real love, like our mother's, but he would never have it again because he was dying because of his sexual relationships.

So, the teaching is that we are responsible for our choices and we must have limits. We must give and take love but this doesn't mean that if we give love we will get the same from the others. Sexual relationships don't always mean that we have found real love. We must do whatever we want but we must have the heart to accept the critisism from others and be sure that what we do is correct for us, not for the others. During our life we're looking for real love. The love that our mother gives us. So, Mercury and May consider that real love is equal to the love that mothers give.
